insurancesg.si — The expat guide to insurance in Singapore
insurancesg.si is an English-language guide to insurance in Singapore for expatriates and international families. It answers one question in order: given your residency status, which protection do you already have, which do you not, how are the gaps usually filled, and what changes when you change job or leave the country. It covers the regulatory system (MAS, LIA, GIA, SDIC and FIDReC), whether CPF, MediShield Life, CareShield Life and DPS apply to you, employer group cover versus personal cover, local health plans and international private medical insurance, life and critical illness cover, insuring a family and a domestic helper, claims and complaints, and what to do with your policies when you leave Singapore.
Every figure carries a unit, a date and a source, and the sources page lists them. Rules on passes, CPF and tax change; check the official page before acting.
What this site does not do: it does not recommend, rank or price products, insurers or international medical insurance brands; it does not promise underwriting, claim or tax outcomes; and it does not advise on obtaining a pass, PR or tax residency. It is not an insurer, a broker, an immigration adviser or a tax adviser.
Division of labour in the network: xiaopoxian.com.sg is the Chinese-language Singapore insurance primer, including applications by foreigners and non-residents, while this site explains the same mechanisms in English for expats of any income level; hnwi.sg covers relocation, residency routes and landing for high-net-worth families in Chinese, and treats medical insurance as one step in that relocation rather than as a mechanism-level reference; term.com.sg and wholelife.com.sg explain term and whole life in depth; saving.com.sg covers savings plans, including for international residents; insurancehk.si covers the Hong Kong market; bankaccount.com.sg covers bank accounts and bank-side CRS. The Chinese pages here are summaries of the English pages.
